BUTYL RUBBER (IIR)

Butyl rubber (IIR), also called isobutylene-isoprene rubber, a synthetic rubber produced by copolymerizing isobutylene with small amounts of isoprene. Bromine or chlorine can be added to the small isoprene fraction of IIR to make BIIR or CIIR. It is used in the making of closures, stoppers, caps, seals for infusion containers, injection vials, blood collection tubes and other pharmaceutical bottles. It is most widely used in the making of Innertube for tire industry and is also extensively used in construction industry.
